RAYTOWN, Mo. – A Raytown teen missing for two days was found alive inside a wrecked car Sunday afternoon.

Raytown High School junior Jacob Fischer, 17, was last seen at an underage drinking party Friday night, Oct. 31.

His parents contacted police when their son didn’t come home Saturday and didn’t respond to phone calls.

Sunday, a Kansas City Police helicopter spotted Jacob’s car in a steep ravine at 49th Terrace and Noland Road. He was found alive inside the wrecked car less than two miles from his home.

Jacob’s family said they has searched the area repeatedly, but could not see down the ravine.

The Kansas City Fire Department helped cut him out of the wreckage.

Jacob was taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken leg, dislocated hip and facial abrasions. His parents say he is expected to be okay.

He does have serious injuries and will be in the hospital for awhile.

Statement from the Family of Jacob Fischer

Jacob Fischer, 17 junior at Raytown High School went missing at 6AM on Saturday, Nov. 1st. Jacob was supposed to meet his friends for a hunting trip and never arrived. The dense fog coupled with a winding road with no guard rail caused Jacob to crash into dense brush outside line of sight. A massive search lead by his family and friends passed the location dozens of times and his car was not seen. The Raytown police department was contacted and after two attempts a police report was taken listing Jacob as missing and endangered. The assumption that because he was a teenager that his disappearance was “normal” on the part of the Raytown Police was wrong and lead directly to his being missing for 32 hours. Jacob was trapped inside his vehicle for a one and a half full days and a full night. This is unacceptable; within 2 hours of searching by the Kansas City Police he was found. The last phone call from Jacobs’s phone was at 6:03 on Saturday morning and the phone stopped receiving calls at 6:14. Jacob’s family is extremely grateful to the Kansas City Police Department as they acted quickly to trace the last phone call and spotted his car by helicopter around 2:30pm Sunday afternoon. The family is also unhappy about the Amber Alert policy that prevented the issuance of an Amber Alert in response to his disappearance. Jacob is a minor in high school living at home with his parents and his family believes that the cutoff age should be 18. The family is also asking that guard rails be put in place along the stretch of Noland Road where he crashed. It is a dangerous stretch of road where accidents are common and had a guard rail been in place Jacob would have been found much sooner. Again the family would like to express their gratitude to the Kansas City Police Department and Fire Department for their incredible response and action.

Condition Update: Jacob is in ICU at Truman Medical Center. Jacobs’s injuries are extensive and extremely serious.

The Family would ask for all your Thoughts and Prayers to be with Jacob, his parents and family in this trying time.
