KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Several metro area high schools have been honored for their education excellence.
According to U.S. News and World Report, Summer Academy was one of two Kansas schools to get the prestigious silver medal ranking.
The award is based on several factors. Those include state reading and math scores, demographics and student achievement in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses.
The study looked more than 21,000 public high schools in 48 states.
The top 100 high schools were awarded gold medals and the next 504 won silver medals. Another 1,321 schools were awarded bronze medals.
The other school receiving the silver medal was Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park.
Also ranked in the study was Eudora High School in Eudora, Kan. The school was honored with a bronze medal.
In Missouri, Lincoln Prep High School in Kansas city won a silver medal, while Lee’s Summit North High School won a bronze.
