Man Charged with Stealing KC Water

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Clay County grand jury has indicted Marty Ostronic of Kansas City, Missouri for stealing water.

Ostronic owns the Staley Farms Golf Club, which declared bankruptcy in September.

The indictment charges Ostronic used an illegal diverter valve to send millions of gallons of city water into an irrigation lake at the golf course, without paying for the water and without city consent, for five years.

Residential developers discovered the illegal valve when they audited irrigation water used in common areas of the development. took water from the city to irrigate the golf course without city consent.

The residential development is not connected to the golf club.
