TOPEKA, Kan. -- Kansas health officials said a 62-year-old man from northeast Kansas is the ninth person to die in Kansas after contracting the H1N1, or swine flu virus.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment released no further details, except to say the victim had underlying health conditions that made him more likely to see complications from the H1N1 virus.

Lab tests conducted confirmed Wednesday that the man had swine flu.

Cases of the virus have been confirmed in more than half of the state's 105 counties since April, 2009.
