KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A new study finds only about two percent of eligible Kansans will take advantage of the first-time homebuyer tax credit.

According to a recent report by the National Association of Retailers, the credit lured about 1,500 additional buyers into the Kansas housing market through the end of September.

So far, nearly 23,000 first-time home buyers have taken advantage of the credit.

Lawmakers recently approved an extension to the tax credit, keeping it in force through April.
