KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the second time in a year Kansas City will miss out on an opportunity to host the US Figure Skating Championships.

Officials announced Wednesday that the 2012 Nationals will be in San Jose, CA.

The event attracts 1500 competitors and generates about $20 million to the local economy.

Earlier this year, Kansas City lost a bid to bring the 2011 Championships to the Sprint Center.

Two factors in losing the bid were insufficient hotel rooms and uncertainty about the future of Kemper Arena which would be needed as a practice facility.
