KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCPL) is seeking a rate increase.

The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold public hearings in March to receive comments on the rate proposal from any of the 271,000 customers served by KCPL in western Missouri.

KCPL wants to increase annual electric revenues by approximately $102 million, or 17.5 percent. This would mean a $14 per month increase for the average residential customer.

The hearings will be held March 5 at 6 p.m. at the Saline County Career Center in Marshall, Mo.; March 9 by videoconference at 6 p.m. at the Carrollton Public Library in Carrollton, Mo.; and March 12 at 11:30 a.m. and at 5:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library-Plaza branch at 4801 Main Street in Kansas City, Mo.

The hearings are also question and answer sessions. Local public hearings will each continue until everyone who wishes to testify has done so.

Consumers unable to attend the local public hearings and wish to make written comments may contact the Office of the Public Counsel, Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Suite 650, P.O. Box 2230, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-2230, telephone  (866) 922-2959 , e-mail opcservice@ded.mo.gov or the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102, telephone  800-392-4211 , e-mail pscinfo@psc.mo.gov.
