KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Free Health Clinic, near 35th Street and Broadway in Kansas City, Mo., was evacuated at about 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.
EMS workers were sent there after receiving reports of possible carbon monoxide exposure.
An employee who was in the basement reported an unusual smell and a burning sensation in his nose and throat.
Others in the building reported similar problems, and that's when emergency workers were called.
About 60 people were evacuated; 40 employees and 20 patients.
At least one person needed medical treatment for throat irritation. No one had to be transported to the hospital.
The building was reopened for occupants by about 4:15 p.m.
