KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The lakes may be frozen, but boat lovers are already preparing for summer.
Crews began setting up Monday for the annual Kansas City Boat and Sports Show.
Hundreds of boats made their way into Bartle Hall, 301 W. 13th Street, throughout the day Monday as vendors prepare for opening day on Thursday.
Organizers say while people are cutting back on their entertainment budgets, the boating industry isn't suffering.
In fact, they say, the show is 60 percent bigger than last year.
"The boating industry, if you look at the waves, have already hit the bottom and are starting to go up. And the good news for consumers is that you can buy a year old model for a great deal, but if you wait a little longer, that deal will be gone because the industry is returning to normal,” said Keith Ammons, part of the show’s management team.
The show runs Thursday through Sunday.
In additional to boats, there will also be RV’s, hunting and fishing gear and interactive activities for kids and adults.
