Jackson County Deputies Investigate Fatal Crash

JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Lee’s Summit teenager is dead after a two-vehicle collision late Friday night.

It happened shortly after 11 p.m. at 150 Highway and Smart Road in southern Jackson County.

Calls came into the Jackson County Sheriff's Department as well as the Greenwood Police. Both responded to the calls of the crash.

According to the sheriff’s department, a red Chevrolet Trailblazer was driving southbound on Smart and the other vehicle, a red Chevrolet Cavalier, was heading eastbound on 150 Highway when the two vehicles collided at the intersection.

The Trailblazer ended up in the ditch and the Cavalier bounded off a power pole.

There were three people in the Trailblazer and one person in the Cavalier.

The driver of the Cavalier and a passenger in the Trailblazer were taken to local hospitals for treatment. They are expected to be okay.

The other passenger in the Trailblazer, 17-year-old Tyler M. Fratzke of Lee’s Summit, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
