JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - A group of residents concerned over the deer explosion in Shawnee Mission Park voiced their concerns to commissioners Thursday.

The deer population in the popular park has been growing tremendously in the past several years.

The park is now over-run with deer, an estimated 400 at the park.

Some local residents say the deer population has thrown the ecosystem in the park out of whack which can cause numerous problems, mainly the spread of lyme disease and others.

Johnson County Commissioners met about the problem Thursday, but put off any decision until April.
