Inmate Escapes Jail During Shift Change

Last Update: 6/22 12:13 pm
FAYETTE, Mo. (AP) - Roadblocks were up around Fayette after an imnate escaped from the Howard County jail.

Sheriff Charlie Polson says 31-year-old Curtis Jones of New Franklin escaped during a shift change shortly after midnight Monday. Polson said Jones apparently jammed the lock on his cell door and then walked out of the jail, about 30 miles northwest of Columbia.

Polson says Jones was last seen riding a bicycle near a Fayette grocery store. He's a white male, bald, 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds.
