BASEHOR, Kan. – A high school teacher is suspended over allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
The teacher works at Basehor Linwood High School, 2108 N 155th St.
A 16-year-old girl said the 44-year-old teacher had a sexual encounter with her.
Basehor Police Chief Lloyd Martley won't comment on whether the relationship was ongoing or a one time instance. He does not believe she is pregnant.
The teacher was suspended May 19. The student continued to attend classes this week.
Basehor-Linwood District Superintendent Bob Albers confirmed the teacher’s suspension, but declined further comment until the investigation is completed.
According to investigators, they are only just getting started with the investigation.
Earlier, this week Kansas City police received two reports of alleged rapes inside two different schools. Police are investigating the
reports of rape at Fairview Alternative School, 3850 Pittman Road and
George Washington Carver Elementary School, 4600 Elmwood Ave.
