RIVERSIDE, Mo. - Students at Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Mo., spent their Friday night living like displaced children in a war-torn African nation.

The Park Hill South High School Student Council organized an event designed to raise awareness of the plight facing Ugandans stuck in the midst of a 23-year civil war. The event is called "Displace Me," and requires participants to spend the night on the school's football field in makeshift cardboard homes. Students will also observe a moment of silence, take part in a letter-writing campaign to raise awareness of the country's problems, and wear t-shirts which symbolize the number of children kidnapped and forced to serve in the rebel army.

Student organizer Taylor Hill came up with the idea for the project after reading about the country's plight on the internet. "Kids at South have closed eyes a lot of this kind of stuff and it's a good opportunity to bring awareness to them."

More than 140 Park Hill South students paid to participate in the event. All of the money raised will go to Invisible Children Organization.
