KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City-based
Hallmark Cards announced more than 200 workers will be laid off by the end of the year.
Hallmark Public Relations Director Nancy O’Dell says 225 to 250 workers will lose their jobs. The layoffs will be system-wide, involving plant workers and office workers.
Hallmark is headquartered in Kansas City. The company has production plants in Lawrence, Topeka and Leavenworth; and distribution centers in Liberty, Mo., and Enfield, Conn.
Company officials are not sure when they might be able to recall some employees.
