KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A local group is part of a national effort urging Congress to pass President-elect Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package.

“We want congress to focus on the pain that is out there among working people and respond to that by investing in our working people,” says Judy Ancel.

Ancel is part of a new group called Jobs with Justice.
They back Obama’s economic stimulus package which he promises holds money for job creation through federal infrastructure and energy programs.

Judy Talley is a single mom who recently went back to school, and recently joined the group.

After getting a degree in urban planning she started looking for a job. But after seven months she’s having no luck.

“I have applied in at least ten jobs a day, and a lot of times more than that,” says Talley.

Financial expert Anthony Tocco says jobs are the key to stimulating the economy. But he warns that the stimulus package comes with a high price.

“We keep on talking about we've got to do what's good for our children. Our children are going to be facing a monumental debt,” says Tocco.

He adds that giving tax breaks to small business is also important.
