KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Don Bosco Charter High School has a new media center.

The Don Bosco Centers has used a $100,000 grant for the past nine months from health insurer Humana to build and equip a media center for 225 students for the school and hundreds of more in the Northeast community.

The facility provided a sneak preview for the press on Thursday.

"We are incredibly proud of the media center," Don Bosco Centers President Nicholas Scielzo said. "It refreshes the entire school and helps bridge the gap between our urban core and the more prosperous neighborhoods. We could not have done it without Humana, and their extraordinary generosity encouraged others to donate."

The grant from Humana went toward the purchase of more than 800 books, technology, furniture, subscriptions and a portion of the renovation costs. The $100,000 investment from Humana also helped Don Bosco Center secure another $58,500 in financial and in-kind support.

Besides traditional resources, the media center will also offer a laptop check-out, on-site tutoring, children's reading area, and a state for presentations.
