KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A golden retriever started giving birth to a litter of pups in Freeman, Mo., and thanks to workers, she now has hope.

The dog, named Hope was cold and hungry, and started delivering her pups outside. Workers took her in, and she delivered two more at Wayside Waifs.

Jenny Brown of Wayside Waifs says now, it appears mom and pups all have Hope.

"She's got a full load with five puppies. She actually delivered ten puppies, but only five survived, and she's caring for them really well," Brown said.

The puppies and their mom are going to a foster home for awhile, but will be put up for adoption later.

Experts remind all put owners, when the temperature drops below freezing, bring your pet inside. If that's not possible, at least let them in the garage or make sure they have a dry, warm shelter outside.
