KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Some high level talks took place Friday afternoon at City Hall. Girl Scouts visited Mayor Funkhouser's office for "milk and cookies with the mayor." They provided plenty of cookies. Shatto Milk Company provided the ice cold milk.
Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri kicked off their annual cookie drive this week. They’ll be taking orders for the next month. Cookies will be delivered in January.
At City Hall, the girls shared their goals for this year’s drive. Each year there are some 200-million boxes of cookies sold by Girl Scouts around the country. The local chapters sell about 2-million of that.
“Through the Girl Scouts these children are learning the importance of community service and civic engagement,” said Mayor Funkhouser. “I will thank them for their work and encourage them to continue giving to their communities.”
By the way, the Mayor’s favorite Girl Scout cookie? Thin Mints!
