KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Children can get as many as eight colds a year and this year, parents are even more concerned about the spread of the H1N1 flu. So they are looking for products to help keep their children safe.
While grownups talk about anti-virals, the Pandemic and H1N1 trials, there are new phrases being thrown around teacher Ebony Ahmad’s classroom.
Phrases like “germy wormy”, “sniffle buddies” and “boogie wipes” are growing more commonplace as children are taught the basics about the spread of germs. These products emerging on the market are designed to reinforce those lessons and make it fun to practice them.
But how well do they work?
We put them to the test in an elementary school. In addition to the school children, we showed these products to a pediatrician with two young children of his own.
