OLATHE, Kan.- On World AIDS Day, the Johnson County Health Department is offering free, rapid HIV testing.
World AIDS Day is scheduled for this Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The free, rapid HIV testing will be at the Johnson County Health Department, 11875 S. Sunset Dr., in Olathe from noon to 6 p.m.
No appointment is needed and the testing is confidential.
"Using rapid HIV tests allows the individual to know their HIV status in 15 minutes and not have to come back at a later date for results," said Lougene Marsh, Johnson County Health Department Director. “One of our overall goals is to help stop the spread of HIV by educating the public.”
In information provided by the Johnson County Health Department, an estimated one million Americans are living with HIV.
Worldwide, that number increases to 33 million.
