KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Missouri System must figure out how to deal with budget issues, dramatic enrollment increases and other challenges in the next ten years.
That was the message Thursday from President Gary Forsee during a town hall meeting at UMKC.
Forsee told students, faculty and staff the ten-year profile of the system predicts a dramatic enrollment increase.
That means the schools must maintain selective admission standards and graduation rates and other outcomes must show improvements, according to Forsee's Power Point presentation.
The system was able to use $50 million in federal stimulus money in to help keep tuition rates flat for 2010.
The question, according to the Power Point, is will adequate stimulus dollars be available in 2011?
Forsee also revealed the system will evaluate and examine ways to change the way degrees are granted and degree requirements.
That includes three-year and no-frills degrees, year-round cycles and more clarity around credit hour requirements for bachelor and advanced degrees.
