FRONTENAC, Kan. – A woman has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $74,000 dollars from the church where she worked as business manager.
Lanora Spigarelli, 43, admits embezzling from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Frontenac, between January 2006 and September 2007. She pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud, and faces a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
The mail fraud charge was filed because Spigarelli put the stolen cash in the mail to pay her bills.
Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 5.
