LIBERTY, Mo. – Northland students spent Monday honing their leadership skills by discussing controversial topics.
More than 250 students were scheduled to attend a Future Leaders Academy hosted by U.S. Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO).
The students from around Missouri’s Sixth Congressional District gathered at William Jewell College to hear from speakers and attend topic discussions.
The first session, on school vouchers, featured presentations by Charles Smith of the Missouri NEA and political strategist Woody Cozad.
Political strategist Steve Glorioso and Kevin Jamison with the Western Missouri Shooters Alliance were scheduled to lead a presentation on the Second Amendment.
The final breakout topic, immigration reform, was to feature Joyce Mucci of FAIR, Missouri State Rep. Tim Flook and Bill Sharma Williams.
Graves’ office said the goal was to bring top students together to spark an interest in public policy.
