WARRENSBURG, Mo. - A driver could face charges after a New Year's Day accident turned fatal.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the accident happened at 12:15 a.m. Thursday on Route Y and County Road SE 171 south of Warrensburg.

Troopers say a driver lost control while going too fast around a curve. The driver tried to overcorrect and went off the left side of the road.

The car then overturned and slammed into a fence and a pole, throwing 20-year-old Joshua T. Gregg of Warrensburg out of the vehicle.

Gregg was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital where he died later Thursday morning.

The driver, a 25-year-old Warrensburg man, suffered minor injuries.

Troopers say charges are pending as the investigation continues.
