ATCHISON COUNTY, Kan. – The Atchison County Sheriff’s Department says a car found Tuesday in the Missouri River doesn't belong to a missing couple.
Mary Lou Black, 72, and her husband Billie, 74, were last seen on Friday, Sept. 11, in Atchison County, Kan.
Tuesday evening, authorities received a tip that a vehicle, matching the description of the missing couple's car, was in the river, one mile north of the Missouri River Bridge.
When divers pulled the car out early Wednesday morning, it was empty. Officials say it isn't the Black's car. In fact, they think it was in the channel for awhile.
Authorities say Mary Lou has Alzheimer’s disease and Billie has diabetes but did not take his medication with him.
The couple’s car is a light blue, 1990, 4-door Honda Civic with a Kansas license plate reading 605-AWX.
The family says they don't know what to do. They are just praying.
