KANSAS CITY, Mo. -  Nearly 400 English Bulldogs and their owners are competing in American Kennel Club-sanctioned shows this week at the Westin Crown Center Hotel.

The dogs being shown are all champions, and compete for points and other honors.  All owners involved are members of the Bulldog Club of America, established in 1890, and one of the oldest dog clubs in the nation.  The club was formed to maintain a standard of excellence for the guidance of breeders, owners, and judges.

The Heart of America Bulldog Club, based in Kansas City, hosted this week’s shows, including the National competition earlier in the week.  Dogs from nearly all 50 states, as well as Mexico and Canada, are involved in the competition.

The dog show continues through Friday afternoon and Saturday.  The Heart of America Bulldog Club Specialty Show competition begins at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, in the Century B & C Ballrooms at the Westin Crown Center Hotel.  The public is welcome to attend and view the competition involving these gentle, intelligent animals.
