Boy Sentenced For Bringing Pipe Bomb to School

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - A 12-year-old boy will spend a year on probation for bringing an explosive device to his school.

A judge sentenced the boy Wednesday in Leavenworth County.

The boy also will continue his education through home schooling.

The incident occurred Jan. 22, 2009 at Tonganoxie Middle School.

The boy brought the device to school and tried to sell the device to another student

That student told the school's principal.

Leavenworth Bomb Squad detectives took the device and blew it up.

No one was injured.
