JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - A group opposed to a controlled hunt handed out flyers in protest Saturday at 95th and Metcalf.

The group is part of the Bite Club Kansas City, a new animal rights organization.

The group is protesting the controlled hunt, passed earlier this month, to weed out the overpopulated Shawnee Mission Park area.

Sharpshooters and bow hunters will try to thin the 200 deer per square mile down to 50.
The group believes there is a non-violent way to handle the problem.
