OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - An Overland Park, Kan. bank president will climb to the roof to raise money for charity.

Bank of Blue Valley President and CEO Bob Regnier will climb to the roof of the bank's main facility at 119th and Blue Valley Parkway in Overland Park Friday to encourage his employees to raise money for the United Way.

"Our Bank of Blue Valley employees believe in the importance and value that United Way offers to our community. I am confident enough that our employees will support the 2009 campaign that I am committed to staying on the Roof of the Bank of Blue Valley Building until we reach 100% participation by all of our employees," says President and CEO, Bob Regnier.

The United Way is facing a difficult fundraising season. The economic uncertainty prompted the United Way to refrain from setting a campaign dollar goal this year.

"Nonprofit agencies in our community are being overwhelmed by the number of people seeking help. Many are seeing a 25% to 35% increase in demand," says David Fowler co-chair of United Way of Greater Kansas City at this year's United Way kick-off. "This year, instead of setting an arbitrary campaign dollar goal in such an uncertain environment, United Way is challenging itself and the community to stretch in new directions-to be innovative and creative-to meet the needs of the community."
