EDGERTON, Kan. – The Federal Government has given the go-ahead for a new rail freight center in Johnson County.
Critics of the project say diesel emissions from Burlington Northern’s new 400 acre rail yard would increase air pollution in the area near Edgerton, which already exceeds federal air standards.
Burlington Northern has applied for stimulus money for the project. They say if they get the money it will begin construction as soon as possible.
