KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City's Sex Crimes Cold Case Squad says they've made an arrest in an eight year old rape case.
Jimmie Holman is charged with rape with a weapon and forcible sodomy. The 28-year-old is in jail on $250,000 bond.
According to the probable cause statement on Sept. 2, 2001 a 50-year-old woman reported that she was near 31st and Troost when she was approached by a man asking for directions. The man allegedly pulled out a gun and forced the woman into his car. The victim told police the man drove her to an apartment complex and raped her. He later drove the woman to a convenience store where she called police.
The Cold Case Squad says Holman was in prison serving time on felony charges when his DNA was taken. Jackson County Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar says that DNA was matched to this rape. Holman was charged this week.
"It is extremely rewarding for us to go to a victim whose case had been unsolved since 2001 and tell them that we've resolved that case and that the victim has not been forgotten," says Kanatzar.
In the probable cause statement Holman denies knowing the woman after he was shown her photograph.
