(UNDATED) - Delta, United, U.S. Airways, American, and Northwest Airlines are boosting surcharges on some routes this holiday season.

Days like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's could see increases of up to $20.

The airlines say the surcharges are necessary because of supply and demand, but some travel experts say the airlines are looking to cash in during busy travel days.
