KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The new list of possible post office consolidations is out, and five metro stations are among the 413 offices being reviewed.

Two of the five offices are in Kansas City, Kansas, at 3210 Fiberglass Road near Fairfax and the Packer station at 628 Kansas Road. In Missouri, the station in Metro North Mall and offices at 7640 Prospect Ave. and 2657 Independence Ave are being reviewed.

Being on the list doesn't guarantee closing, but the list of offices selected for a closer look had neared 700 at one point.

The U.S. Postal Service is struggling with a sharp decline in mail and could face a deficit as large as $7 billion this year.

The Post Office has also suggested reducing mail delivery from six to five days a week. The final announcement on consolidations is expected in early October.
