MERRIAM, Kan. – Two people are facing charges for using a dead woman’s credit card.

Police say 41-year-old Jeffrey A. Bendure and 39-year-old Lisa I. Smith used Angela Hook’s credit cards on Dec. 7, two days after Hook’s family saw her alive.

On Thursday, Johnson County authorities charged Bendure and Smith with identity fraud and criminal use of a credit card.

They are being held on $100,000 bonds.
Hook was found dead on Dec. 29, in a parked car at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Police are waiting on toxicology results to figure out how she died.

Hook’s family said that she hadn’t been seen since she left her KCK home on Dec. 5. She was headed to The Legends shopping center to do some Christmas shopping.

Police are still seeking a man in connection with the death investigation of Hook.

Police say they want to talk to 60-year-old Aresteen “Butch” Young Jr., about Hook’s death. Merriam police spokesman Lt. Michael Daniels says Young is currently wanted by the Wyandotte County on a narcotics violation.

Anyone with information regarding Young or Hook’s death should call the TIPS Hotline at (816)474-TIPS.
