KANSAS CITY, Kan. – One man has been arrested and another man is at liberty and assumed armed and dangerous in connection with last Friday’s fatal shooting near the intersection of 18th Street and Central Avenue in KCK.

Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman said Sunday that Kansas City, Kan. residents Eldier Molina, also known as “Puppet,” 20, and Juan Lopez, 18, have been charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder in connection with Friday’s incident.

The shooting left Gerson Diaz-Turcios, 19, dead, and his brother, Jose Diaz-Turcios, in critical condition.

Molina has been taken into custody and is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail in lieu of a $10 million bond.

Authorities remain on the look-out for Lopez, and anyone with information is asked to call the KCK Police Department at (913) 573-3000 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.

The new charges aren’t the first time Lopez has been connected with a homicide. Gorman said that Lopez was charged but later acquitted in October on first degree murder charges related to the Feb. 9, 2009 homicide of Ricky Zamora.
