KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police say a man raped a woman who was just trying to help him get his stranded truck out of the ice and snow.

The suspect, 20-year old William Ross, and another man knocked on the victim’s door late Tuesday night, asking to enter the house to get warm. The woman did not let the men in the house.

About an hour later, Ross again knocked at her door. The woman again told him he could not enter the house.

Ross asked to use her phone, and she told him she had no phone. He asked for hot water to get the truck out of the snow and ice, and she gave him two buckets of water.

When the woman went to get a third bucket of water, court documents allege Ross followed her into the house and raped her. The woman told Ross she had children in the house when he began attacking her.

The second man eventually entered the house, discovered what was happening and told Ross to stop.

The woman told police she then told the men everything was ok and that she would still give them the hot water. She walked out onto the porch with the men, then ran back inside and locked the door. That’s when she called police.

Officers say both men were still outside the house, standing in front of a truck, when they arrived.

Both men were detained, and Ross was later charged with rape.
