KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The latest dental solution to a bright, white smile is catching on in the Midwest. It’s called “
Snap-On Smile”, and this relatively new procedure works just like it sounds.
For someone who wants straight, white teeth, it’s a bargain at less than a thousand dollars. That’s compared to the alternative, veneers or crowns, which can easily run $30,000 a smile.
Snap-On teeth were a welcome option for Rowana Hollins who has an outgoing personality, but had begun to stifle her laughs and smiles.
“I had a tooth that was turning brown and I had to get it pulled,” explained Hollins, “I didn’t smile as much. Now I smile a lot more.”
Her dentist, Dr. William Woodruff, says, “It’s a covering that covers the whole arch, all of the teeth.”
How It Works
The dentist takes an impression of the mouth to make a mold. The mold is then sent to the lab and, in about two weeks, you get a set of teeth that fit right over your own.
“The Snap-On Smile is functional,” adds Dr. Woodruff, “You can eat with it, you can sleep with it, you can wear it at night.”
In some cases, the Snap-On Smile can even be used to make crooked teeth look straight without having to grind down the teeth, which is necessary when using veneers.
“It covers up spaces or gaps, it covers stained or discolored teeth,” says the doctor.
He also recommends it to cover chipped or fractured teeth.
But Snap-On Teeth isn’t right for everyone.
