KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A sport utility vehicle slammed into a man and child Monday morning after a school bus slammed into the SUV. Police say the man, child, plus two children inside the bus, were injured.
The collision was reported at 31st and Troost around 8:05 a.m.
Two students on board the bus, which was headed to Imagine Renaissance Academy, suffered minor injuries. As did the man and five-year-old child.
Police say the SUV was trying to make a left turn onto Troost when it was struck head-on by the school bus. The SUV then slid into the man and child.
Kermitt Ferguson says he saw the entire accident and immediately went to check on the man and child.
"The little boy was shaken and crying," Ferguson said. "We were just trying to calm the man down so he didn't have a stroke or something."
Police say slick roads may have played a factor in how quickly the vehicles were able to stop after the crash, but would not yet say if weather conditions played a factor in the cause of the crash.
Police say they are still investigating.
