KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Health inspectors temporarily closed Sharp’s 63rd Street Grill on Monday after finding roaches.
The Kansas City Health Department cited the restaurant with four critical violations.
“During a routine inspection today, the health department issued a cease operation to Sharp's 63rd Street Grill, 128 W. 63rd St., due to evidence of live roach activity throughout the establishment and physical facility violations,” said health department spokesman Jeff Hershberger.
The inspectors noted “grease build-up on the floor, wall and ceiling in the kitchen and structural damage in the kitchen, among other violations,” Hershberger said.
“No comment,” an employee at Sharp’s said today who identified himself only as Cory when called by NBC Action News.
“We’re closed for repairs,” he said when asked to leave a message for the manager. “That’s it,” he said, and the line went dead.
The health department says the restaurant can reopen after fixing the problem and passing a reinspection.
