NORTHMOOR, Mo. - The Missouri Highway Patrol has upgraded criminal charges against a man involved in a fatality traffic accident on Sept. 9.

Liberty resident Jack A. Martin, 23, is now charged with involuntary manslaughter, assault and leaving the scene of an injury accident. He's accused of causing the death of Channing May, 25, just after 2 a.m. on Sept. 9.

Investigators said the deadly crash, involving Martin and several pedestrians, began with a fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Martin was driving off in a Jeep Cherokee when he struck three people and another vehicle on Frontier Street and NW Vivion Road early that Sunday morning.

May died as a result of the crash and three other pedestrians were injured.

Martin remains in the Platte County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15.
