KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Missouri Highway Patrol officials closed eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at the 40 mile marker after a serious crash on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened at about 1:15 p.m., near the Odessa, Mo. exit.
The right lane of eastbound I-70 was reopened by about 2:30 p.m. All lanes of eastbound I-70 reopened just before 3 p.m.
At least two vehicles were involved.
Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Collin Stosberg says one vehicle left the scene of the crash. It was a black or charcoal-colored passenger vehicle, which is now missing its front bumper.
The front bumper was recovered by police at the scene of the crash.
The suspect vehicle was last seen headed southbound on Route M from I-70. Police later found the suspect's vehicle around 4 p.m. The suspect is in custody in Grain Valley.
One person that was involved in the crash remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
