KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Authorities have identified the victim of a Monday afternoon fatal wreck in the Northland.
Police say 45-year-old Mitchell Cross, of Kansas City, was killed in the collision.
The Missouri Department of Transportation closed westbound lanes of 152 Highway immediately after the crash, which happened about 2 p.m. near Green Hills Road in Kansas City north.
According to police, a driver headed east on 152 lost control and crossed into westbound lanes, striking the vehicle carrying Cross and a 5-month-old child.
A witness reported icy road conditions at the crash scene, though investigators have not released an official cause of the wreck.
The other driver suffered very minor injuries and was walking around when emergency crews arrived. The child in Cross’ vehicle was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
An update on his or her condition was not available Tuesday morning.
The road was reopened just after 5 p.m. Monday.
