If you want to keep a diary, keep a diary, but not on the computer of your husands' employer.

Gloria sounds like a very troubled woman. No doubt many of her complaints are justified but her overkill and innapropriate comments has injured her husband's chances to succeed as Mayor. The City Council is disfunctional and more corrupt than I have seen during my 81 years, but any chance to change this has been eliminated by this woman's actions.

Gloria needs to get a life and grow up!!!

Mayor Mark Funkhouser, what were you doing on 10th and Baltimore on May 21st of this year? I was catching the #129 to the airport. Where you going to the library? CVS? Where you just finishing a meeting somewhere?

Wow, I just finished reading the whole thing. I guess I missed the racy comments as the article claims. If you take the underlined phrases in context instead of standing alone there is no major story here. I can't see that this really hurts. All it does is expose the kind of atmosphere that is prevalent in most offices in town, both private company and public. It's a power struggle and everyone wants to pee on the pole (make their mark). It's petty bickering that gets public attention because it's the mayor and coucils offices. Peyton Place could have used this material.

She's not very bright, is she? The comments are those that a high schooler would write on myspace or something. Plus, she kept it on the mayor's computer? Not very bright at all. She's an embarrassment, I'd say. Very immature.

is this a true portrait of the drunkenness a little power gives people? no wonder people do not take much interest in local sate or federal politics. Everyone involved in this is a scoundrel, from the top to the bottom. It just makes ya sick

It was obvious the day after the election when everyone expected Alvin Brooks to win that Funkhouser was going to have a up hill battle. The council wanted a yes man and they didn't get their wishes. Every since then there has been some sort of controversy. As long as you keep the current city council members you will never get anything accomplished. They are deep rooted in office and only the agendas of the clique are getting any attention. Changing the mayor won't correct the problem as long as you have the current city council in place. Wake up KC, it's almost too late.

I find this all very interesting because I'm a new KC resident and I thank you for bringing it to my attention.

This has been going on for 25 years. As long as KC has the Council form of government instead of the Strong Mayor form, the taxpayers of KC will suffer. When a mayor is elected to be the boss, he/she should be the boss. A council members vote should not be as important as the mayor. What KC has is management by concensus, and that does not work. This story would not be as big as it is if Mayor Funkhouser had the power to get his agenda for KC into action. But, he wont as long as this form of government is implemented in KC. Squitiro is embarassing. Her name should be Gloria Funkhouser, not Squitiro if she indeed supports her husband. I read the entire 35 page diary, and I have seen worse than what was written. I dont support Gloria, but I do support her Husband Mark. I will also say that I live in Independence where these things dont happen.
