INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – Police are expected to ask for misdemeanor charges against relatives of a teen involved in an AMBER Alert last week.
Makenzie Green, 16, went missing after dropping off a friend at a Grain Valley school.
She was later found, safe and sound, at a home in St. Joseph, Mo., where her boyfriend, Curtis Hagey, lives.
Police say two of Hagey’s relatives face charges for telling officers they didn’t know where Makenzie was, when in fact she was inside their house.
A spokesman for the Independence Police Department says charges are likely because “they lied to the officers”.
The spokesman also says police still think Makenzie was in danger but they are not pursuing charges against Hagey.
