Most people experience some type of back pain during their lives. The type of back pain is usually indicated by the cause and the area where the pain is located.
Preventing back pain
For many people, the key to a healthy back is found in good posture, proper exercise, safe lifting techniques, and a firm mattress. Poor posture puts a great deal of strain on the muscles and ligaments in your back, and this is the primary cause of back pain.
Treating back pain
Most people with lower back pain can improve symptoms with minimal treatment in a matter of days. Common treatments include rest, ice packs or localized heat, asprin or pain relief medication, posture training, relaxation techniques, message therapy, and stomach exercises.
What causes back pain?
Lower back pain is most often the result of a strain on muscles and ligaments along the spine, which may or may not be triggered by bending, lifting, or other activities.
