OVERLAND PARK, Kansas - A Johnson County woman is offering a $1,000 reward leading to the arrest in the case of an Independence dog found hanging from a tree last weekend.
Hope Talbot says the crime, in which Independence, Missouri resident Brenda Looney found her 1-year-old Jack Russell terrier Chico dead and hanging from a tree, was too much to bear.
"It was just a horrible thing," she said.
Talbot says that while she’s never been involved in offering a reward in a case like this, she’s been a long-time donor to area animal shelters.
Talbot says she doesn’t know Looney, but is just hoping someone is arrested for the crime.
Independence Police say they are continuing to investigate the case.
