The ACT! Project, or Access Care Together, is a new initiative from the Don Bosco Centers .

The goal of the project is to aid eligible individuals in signing up for and accessing Medicaid and Medicare.

The Don Bosco Family Support Center Director, Carla Brewer, says, “In tough economic times, people avoid going to the doctor because of the cost. If those eligible receive health benefits, they’ll see a doctor about a small health issue before it becomes a crisis.”

From this spring until December, an ACT! advocate will travel the Metro to help folks in Kansas City get the health care coverage they need.

Cathy Lay is available Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kansas City Library Northeast Branch. That’s located at 6000 Wilson Road.

Lay will be reaching out by way of enrollment and education at Saturday’s Community Info Fair.

Saturday’s outreach event and the ACT! Project is made possible by the United Way Healthy People, Healthy Communities grant.

If you’d like to bring the ACT! Project to your school, organization or neighborhood contact Cathy Lay at 816-719-3906 or clay@donbosco.org.
