KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Heavy rains caused some flooding in the Crossroads District in Kansas City Wednesday morning.
The pictures you see to the left were taken around 11 a.m. near 22nd and Central, where residents reported being without power for about an hour earlier in the day.
Heavy rains began in parts of the metro around 9:30 a.m., and by 10:30, NBC Action News was starting to get reports of high water.
Areas that typically suffer in times of heavy rain were hardest hit on Wednesday. Gardner Road at Chouteau Avenue was quickly swamped. Truckdrivers were slowed but not stopped by high water there.

NBC Action Weather Plus Meteorologist Gary Lezak says we're in a strange weather pattern and thunderstorms will develop tonight, but not everyone will see heavy rain. Those who do could get 1 or 2 inches of rain by Thursday afternoon.
Gary says there's a good chance of more rain on Thursday and the high will only reach the low 70s.
