KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Morning thunderstorms that caused minimal damage in and around the Kansas City area paved the way for what will be a muggy afternoon
The dew point had hit 69 by 11:20 a.m., and NBC Action Weather Meteorologist Brett Anthony says that makes for some oppressively steamy conditions.

Closer to Kansas City, minimal damage was reported in Johnson County, where power lines were down near 61st and Pflumm, 95th and Nall, and 50th and Nall.
As the storms move out, the temperature and humidity will rise, with a high mark of about 87. Brett says the muggy conditions will make it feel like the low-to-mid 90s.
More scattered thunderstorms are possible Wednesday and Thursday, with highs remaining in the upper 80s, and Brett predicts we’ll see the start of a three-to-five day “hot and dry” stretch that will see no rain and temperatures creeping back into the mid 90s.
